This week has been exciting with the build up to New Zealand’s largest sporting event, the 2011 Rugby World Cup. With the Canterbury earthquake resulting in Christchurch loosing the opportunity to host several games there was a large question about visitor numbers during the tournament. This question will be answered over the next 6 weeks as thousands of international visitors experience what New Zealand has to offer. However the first signs are looking very positive; Alpine Springs has had the pleasure of welcoming visitors from around the globe. International visitor numbers have been increasing daily throughout the week, great to see more and more people stopping at Lake Tekapo so see and experience what this amazing community has to offer.
This week is unfortunately the last week of our winter school visits. Schools from around the region have enjoyed visiting Alpine Springs Snow Tubing Park, Ice Rink and the Hot Pools over the winter months. It has been an enjoyable experience for students, teachers and Alpine Springs staff. A big thanks to all the schools that have made this an awesome winter season! Bring on summer!
Alpine Springs was fortunate enough to host the following schools this week:
Twizel Area School and St Josephs School
Planning for the Under the Big Sky event is speeding up as more details are finalised for the December 3rd Country and Blues night.
