High Speeds and Good Deeds

Winter has been a little more kind to us this week, no -10° frosts have been a welcome change in Lake Tekapo. However the low temperatures did make for some superb snow making conditions for the Snow Tubing Park. The low temperatures also resulted in some pretty impressive speeds on our Snow Tubing Slope because of the snow freezing!

Hard to believe that winter is already coming to an end. Longer days and rising temperatures (some days) can only mean one thing… Summer is just around the corner. While Summer in Lake Tekapo is not to be missed, the staff at Alpine springs will be sorry to see the Snow Tubing Slope start to melt around mid September. So now is the time to come to Alpine Springs and experience our winter wonderland. Don’t miss the opportunity to fly down the Snow Tubing slope and glide around the ice rink in 2011 before the temperature rises. Over the warmer months the Ice Rink transforms into an inline skating rink while the Hot Pools run year round.

Lake Tekapo is truly becoming a year round destination offering so much throughout the year. 3 commercial ski fields in close proximity to Tekapo have made Lake Tekapo one of New Zealands top ski destinations. Over summer the lake itself is a large draw card, offering great boating and fishing. Explore the walking and mountain bike tracks around the lake as they continue to develop. Lake Tekapo offers a growing number of attractions and accommodation providers.
