Well well well what a busy few weeks it has been here at Alpine Springs. Already the school holidays have came and gone and all too soon. The School Holidays have been a resounding success at Alpine Springs with families coming from near and far to enjoy what Alpine Springs and Lake Tekapo have to offer.
Some chilly temperatures at the start of the week (minus 10!) made the Hot Pools & Cafe very popular spots throughout the week. Fresh snow on the mountains followed by some amazing weather saw the surrounding Ski Fields experience some great conditions over the school holidays. When the winds did get up however and people were looking for that snow experience, guess where they came looking…. That’s right, Alpine Springs Snow Tubing Park! Cooler tempters at the start of the week made for perfect snow making conditions, setting the Snow Tubing Park up with a very good base of snow.
People of all ages have been flying down the snow slope and Alpine Springs has been breaking some records along the way. A big thank you to everyone who came to enjoy Alpine Springs & the Mackenzie region over the school holidays, it really has been a blast. The holidays were caped off with some impressive dance moves on Friday and Saturday nights at the Ice Discos. Keep in touch with what’s happening at Alpine Springs and join us on Facebook today.

Air Asia X
Alpine Springs recently had the pleasure of hosting a fantastic famil, with 14 international media from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, India and Indonesia courtesy of Air Asia X and Tourism New Zealand. The group with local Mayor Claire Barlow set out to experience the Snow Tubing Park, on which even Claire had a go! In fact many of the group had never experienced snow before, let alone ice, this really added to the novelty of the experience. The Ice Skating proved to be an exciting & challenge experience testing balance and coordination.
After the Ice and Snow the group took a dip in the Hot Pools enjoying the views over the lake before heading to the café for a coffee. Members of the famil and Alpine Springs staff thoroughly enjoyed the experience and got some great photos along the way. The famil then moved on the Glentanner Park Central to enjoy the views of Mt Cook. Only in the region for 3 days the group was utterly blown away by the beauty and authenticity of the Mackenzie region.
