Waiting for our winter wonderland

The thermals are out, it’s getting cold and everyone is waiting for the snow…you know what that means: WINTER IS ALMOST HERE!

Winter is the most exciting time for Alpine Springs with all of our fantastic activities up and running.  The ice skating rink has been open for ice skating since April 15th and it’s been non-stop, fun-filled action since then.

Mondays have been totally dedicated to public skating, so come one down.

On Tuesdays the littlies show off their hockey skill with Junior Ice Hockey and the Mackenzie Curling club show us why Curling is an Olympic sport.

Wednesdays see the school and senior ice hockey teams take the stage on the ice.

Thursdays are great fun with social curling gives everyone a chance to have a go at the fascinating sport.

Fridays start educational with learn to skate teaching the class how to maneuver the ice and then the party animals come in to party down at the ice disco.

Saturdays are always a thrill with the senior hockey game and then the party animals come in again to party down more at the second night of the ice disco.

Sundays give us no need to sleep in with ice hockey practice early that morning then the rest of the day is dedicated to the public for fun on the ice.

As is that isn’t enough for the winter, from Mid June, the snow tubing park will be open and ready for you to slide on down! In case you’re unfamiliar with the snow tubing park, let me explain. We offer you a state of the art man made snow slope dedicated entirely to tobogganing and snow tubing, or simply frolicking in the snow. The snow-tubing park is a 150m long slope that, in winter, gets covered in man made and natural snow. For those of you who do not know what snow tubing is, it is simply grabbing a tube, made for snow, and sliding down a carved half circle track, like a bobsleigh run. No experience is required, making it fun for people of all ages! This season we have the exciting addition of a magic carpet. This means you no longer have to trudge your way up the slope to go back down. Instead, once you’re at the bottom, just jump on the magic carpet and cruise your way back to the top, quickly and effortlessly, so you can send yourself zooming back down!
